Skin Food – What Should or Shouldn’t You Eat

All you need to do is to eat healthy and avoid catastrophic food. Because, what you eat reflects directly on your skin.

Your skin, like any other organ, needs proper care and nourishment.
If you care for your skin, it will show up right on your face. If you eat oily and fatty food, your skin becomes prone to acne and pimples. We need to learn to eat healthy for a gorgeously radiant skin.
When we want our skin to be immune to problems, such as acne, pimples, dark circles, wrinkles, and so on, we need to change our eating habits too.
Researches suggest that food rich in proteins and certain minerals and vitamins aids in slowing down the aging process.
We should eat food that is rich with antioxidants, which combats aging again.
However, some food and beverages can have adverse effects on your skin and can have manifesting allergic reactions. The simplest way is to have a glowing skin is to take care of the basic do’s and don’ts.
DO’s
Have right portions of protein rich food
– Protein rich food is good for a beautiful skin.
People tend to avoid protein, but actually it is good for a radiant skin. Increase your protein intake by including food such as poultry, fish especially shell fish, chicken without skin, and egg white.
A protein-rich diet not only helps repair skin cells, but also checks aging.

Take fat for good
– Don’t be afraid of fat, it is one of the essential elements that our body requires. Cut down on the amount of saturated fat, but don’t cut it altogether.
It contains fatty acids such as Omega -3, which reduces risk of heart attack and precludes skin cancer. Fats and oils also provide anti-inflammatory protection and antioxidants to fight aging process.
But, take food that is less fatty and oily, such as lean meats, fish. Stick to salmon, mackerel and albacore tuna for staying beautiful. Amongst anti-inflammatory, extra virgin olive oil tops the list.
It makes skin healthy and radiant while lowering bad cholesterol.
Have lots of water
– Few things that work for clear and glowing skin sure shot are water, water, and more water. Regular intake of water will avoid dehydration, which in turn stimulates cellular metabolism.
This will cleanse your body as a whole and give you glowing skin along with a healthy body.
Include 2 liters of water in your daily routine and see the wonders it does to your skin. Easy, isn’t it? But, prefer spring water against tap water.
Include antioxidants in diet
– Increase the amount of antioxidant food, such as fruits especially berries, leafy vegetables like lettuce and cabbage.
These supply essential Vitamins (A, C, and E) to your body.
Include at least 5 – 9 servings a day. This would again slow down the aging process besides fighting heart diseases and cell degeneration. These vitamins can be found in Nuts, Soya, and Avocado also.
Green tea is another very good antioxidant. And, onion, which contains quercetin, keeps you away from allergies such as eczema.
DON’Ts
Reduce high – carb diet
– Sugar causes inflammation. Food that is rich in carbohydrates pulsate the blood sugar level leading to harmful chemical changes in body.
Not only this, it diminishes collagen, which is bad for skin and accelerates aging process too. It also causes acne, spots, rashes and cellulite.
However, to fulfill carb requirements of body you can substitute it with low- glycemic fruits and vegetables, such as zucchini.
Also, avoid canned baked beans, generally prepared with molasses, as it releases sugar that is easier to digest thereby raising blood glucose levels.
Alternatively, substitute them with whole grains, breads and pastas, which are slow to digest, thereby slowly absorbed in blood. This will reduce the secretion of insulin and preclude aging.
Avoid Saturated Fat
– Proteins are good for skin, but proteins that have saturated fat and fatty acids such as Omega – 6, can be dangerous.
Red meat is the best example of saturated fat and therefore should be avoided. Food such as ground beef, bacon and so on, falls into this category. Also, avoid food cooked at high temperatures.
Although, the above tips are simple to do, but most of us don’t understand the importance of these unless we are bombarded with skin problems. To recover from those we get into regular usage of lotions, pills, and so on.
These increase skin problems all the more in most of the cases. As a result, we get trapped into a vicious circle. So, don’t let yourself fall into this, eat right and have a radiant skin that makes your friends jealous.
